Scarlet (2025)

Directed by Jake Ward Monsen

Written by Ben Skeldon

A detective noir set in 1944. She leaves her victims with an infamous, red kiss. Infatuated with her, Detective Rivers plays a game of duty vs devotion to stop 'The Scarlet Killer'.

This film was my final year film project, where I was responsible for editing our group-led production Scarlet. Throughout post-production, I researched the processes behind film emulation to gain that authentic 1940s, monochrome aesthetic. Alongside, how to composite digital parts of the set into the scene without compromising the film’s tactile production design. Scarlet was a masterclass in learning how to use modern-day digital tools to mimic the analogue tools used over 80 years ago.
